2. Unexpected Weight Changes
A low-fat or low-calorie diet complemented with a strenuous workout regimen doesn’t seem to work. Instead of burning calories, you are gaining weight. Reason – a low functioning thyroid (hypothyroidism) that is miring the metabolism in quicksand. It slows down the metabolism to the point of ineffectualness. Alternatively, an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) makes you lose weight. It speeds up metabolism and makes the body burn calories abnormally. So, unexplained weight loss, or weight gain shouldn’t be taken lightly, as both the conditions can be an indicator of a thyroid problem.
